TWG Communications partnered with the District of Muskoka on the design, development and production of contemporary waste and recycling calendars. The project required the creation of three distinct waste management calendars, along with supporting social media posts, digital versions and printed copies of each version for district-wide distribution.

Working closely with a multi-person steering committee over several months, TWG led an iterative process that balanced operational accuracy with resident-friendly design. We developed a flexible calendar template system, created bespoke waste and recycling icons for fast “at-a-glance” understanding, and designed all calendar pages to be clear, consistent, and easy to navigate. TWG additionally provided editing of page content, helping to translate service details into plain-language and information residents could easily reference and understand.

Accessibility was integrated throughout the work, with AODA-conscious design choices ensuring full compliance to improve readability, hierarchy, and usability across both print and digital formats. The result was a cohesive set of calendars and campaign assets that strengthen public understanding, reduce confusion, and support Muskoka’s waste collection and diversion goals—delivered through a highly collaborative, structured review process from concept to final production.
